LISCON releases new Linux firmware with improved security featues and VMware View 3.1
LISCON OS Version 2.27.1 and LMC Version 4.2.12 available for download

LISCON launched its new software for all Linux based LISCON Thin Clients today. The new version is available on the LISCON download site free of charge and includes VMware View 3.1. VMware View 3.1 offers highly improved USB support (USB Redirection) for all USB devices (e.g. scanner, cameras, Iphones) in a virtual environment.

In addition to that LISCON integrated the feature "Single Sign On via Active Directory" for Citrix ICA, Microsoft RDP and VMware View. On one hand this feature protects against unauthorized access to the thin client, because credentials are necessary to log onto the terminal. On the other hand it provides more comfort for the user, because these credentials may also be used to establish a Citrix ICA, Microsoft RDP or VMware View Session. A second login to the session itself does not apply.

For the first time USB ports can be locked selectively. The use of special USB devices (e.g. a company USB stick) can be allowed whereas all other devices are still blocked. This means for example that only one stick with an identified serial number (e.g. the administrator’s stick) can be used. Hence LISCON takes into account the increased security requirement in organizations.

More new features at a glance:
  • Integrated Setup Wizard
  • New Tarantella Client (4.31.905)
